On Wednesday 9 May Europeana held a major event for all Ministers of Culture and leaders of Europe's creative industries and memory organisations. Alinari Archive: still space for surprises

The historical archive of glass plate negatives of Fratelli Alinari has been existing for 160 years and although many of their photographs became worldwide famous and it has been studied thoroughly by many scholars, there is still space for surprises. Recently our archivist, researching the archive to find some images for an exhibition, found in a box a very surprising image: a male nude in a theatrical pose with dramatic lighting.More
