EuropeanaPhotography (European ancient photographic vintage repositories of digitized pictures of historical quality) is a EU-funded project putting together several prestigious photographic collections from archives, public libraries, and museums covering 100 years of photography, from the first example of images from Fox Talbot and Daguerre to the beginning of the Second World War .

Ministers show their support for Europeana
On Wednesday 9 May Europeana held a major event for all Ministers of Culture and leaders of Europe's creative industries and memory organisations. Very positive speeches by Neelie Kroes, Vice-President for the Digital Agenda, and by the Danish Minister on behalf of the current EU Presidency, were followed by statements in support of Europeana by Ministers from a dozen countries. Alinari Archive: still space for surprises
The historical archive of glass plate negatives of Fratelli Alinari has been existing for 160 years and although many of their photographs became worldwide famous and it has been studied thoroughly by many scholars, there is still space for surprises. Recently our archivist, researching the archive to find some images for an exhibition, found in a box a very surprising image: a male nude in a theatrical pose with dramatic lighting.More
