Alinari Archive: still space for surprises

The historical archive of glass plate negatives of Fratelli Alinari has been existing for 160 years and although many of their photographs became worldwide famous and it has been studied thoroughly by many scholars, there is still space for surprises. Recently our archivist, researching the archive to find some images for an exhibition, found in a box a very surprising image: a male nude in a theatrical pose with dramatic lighting.
This discovery was important to complete our perception of the work of Fratelli Alinari, as it was unknown to us that they ever made any nude portrait.
