An online postgraduate for archivists, photographers, librarians, people from museums, conservators, researchers, collectors, etc., organized by the High School of Archives and Records Management (ESAGED), the Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI), the Association of Archivists of Catalonia (AAC) and the Institut of Photographic Studies of Catalonia (IEFC).

Ministers show their support for Europeana


On Wednesday 9 May Europeana held a major event for all Ministers of Culture and leaders of Europe's creative industries and memory organisations. Very positive speeches by Neelie Kroes, Vice-President for the Digital Agenda, and by the Danish Minister on behalf of the current EU Presidency, were followed by statements in support of Europeana by Ministers from a dozen countries.

Alinari Archive: still space for surprises


The historical archive of glass plate negatives of Fratelli Alinari has been existing for 160 years and although many of their photographs became worldwide famous and it has been studied thoroughly by many scholars, there is still space for surprises. Recently our archivist, researching the archive to find some images for an exhibition, found in a box a very surprising image: a male nude in a theatrical pose with dramatic lighting.

Europeana has released an animation to explain - and a pilot dataset Linked Open Data is gaining traction in the information world right now.

Florence: Kick-off meeting
